Our maiden queen, the cat who started our journey
Pörrö was my very first ragdoll. A cat I knew I needed and for over 5 years I waited for a chance to get a seal mitted girl I could name Pörrö.
Pörrö 5.3.2010 - 17.5.2024
The cause of Pörrö's death was a sudden onset of diabetes that we completely missed. We took Pörrö to Aisti and found out she had diabetic ketoacidosis, a life threathening state of ketosis with through the roof insuline.
Pörrö was transferred from Aisti to Viikki's animal hospital, where we tried to get her back to health. After losing Aatu only 9 months earlier, Mokka only 8 months prior that and Kin in the beginning of 2021, we thought it would be high time for us to get a win with any cat related problems.
Pörrö was signed in to Viikki's ICU on Monday, and on Friday as her state was not improving, but rather slowly declining, we decided to let her go... On our last visit to see her, she wasn't herself anymore. She was scared, lost, disoriented and instead of being mommy's official floffer, she was just a cat, looking for a corner in which to die in. It was heart wrenching to witness, to see how our 14 year journey was in an instant just gone.
As Pörrö's cause of death was quite clear, even though her disease was not the clearest of diabetic issues, she was not sent for necropsy. Partly due her ICU week costing closer to 5000 euros. It is highly likely that I will, at one poin in time, write a proper memento for Pörrö, but as of now while I'm writing this, I am not willing to cross that bridge.
